My guys are welcome back to anotherways a podcast and today I have with me as very special guest. Hehas won the CPL t twenty. He was the last minute change into thefinal. He's plaid around the world in Countless Twenty League with fifty ten leagues. Well, he's play in the Pakistan League, the Big Bash and he'smade a name so far, being clearly young into the new cricketing world. And this is going to be a very excited episode. So stay tuned andwe'll get straight into it with Phil Salt. I'm here joined with Phil Salt, who has played with fim correct Sussex strikers in the big big Bash League, the barbarest Tridents, which you added last in that last final, reallyand truly calenders in the tea ten league, the Islamabad united in the Pakistani League. So out of all those, which would you really say is yourmost which has been your most enjoyable and which you've like enjoyed the cultures andwhatever is? Yeah, the most aside, the most I've enjoyed maker here wouldbe big bash. Like ground you get to play a you know,it's a good competition to be a better wikets were always quite nice, justeverything that goes with it. You know, they pumber up quite well. It'sthe closest thing you'll ever get to sort of playing like American sport whileyou're still playing cricket. So it's pretty cool. It's pretty good to bea part of it. Like when I was in Adelaide, you go roundand they do stuff that you just don't get over here in other comps, like your face will be on the side of a tram or do you knowthere's a local like TV ads? You're always be on them. So it'sa it's a different sort of platform you run when you're playing that camp.So that would be my favorite. But...

I love playing that final barberid orsomething, and even just speaking about that funnel with Barby tous. I meana lot of people say you really were unfortunately given oat, but what reallywas going on here your head, because I mean from my point of view, in know that you were sending back up to facing next ball really andtruly, but just turn around all the Ol boys hand up. So whatwas really going through your head and emotions were injure? The other thing itwas it was more shocked than anything else, because I've never been more confident goinginto a game of cricket because I saw a pride myself for being ableto stand up and perform, you know, and the pressures on. You know, I love playing under that sort of pressure and I thought just comingin, getting straight off the play, get some kids together in a final, the big game, cepl boy and CPL even better, Boby us.I felt so free and I thought I was going to get runs. Iwas just a given. I thought I was going to get seventeen, youknow, Bang, a couple who ever sign know what a great ddition hearus. And then as soon as it came up the arm, I justpure shock. You can't, we can't put words to it, like literally, and when I still put his finger in the air, it's just Icould believe I'd come all the way. The three balls, or whatever itis, given out. Wow. Yeah, I mean I was kind of really, really unfortunately. I mean a lot of people weren't really taking everybodysaw that it was not really out. After you replay was shown over, and I mean for me, I know the quality that you have really andtruly because obviously I've known you for another of the years playing with wanderers andmany other like stuff being here. You you performed in over the years. They followed you as time as going on. So I was really looking for tosee you even really score at or even more. I just said it'sseventeen. But just looking to Barbados, you you not not necessarily grew uphere, but you spent a number of...

...years here, playing with wanderers, playing with my brother and with a number of other persons. Given your teammate, know Jow for Archer, your time here. How was that? Comelike truck from being here and then going back up to England. Well,I was elately transition for kid. Yeah, well, when I moved out toBarbaydus I loved it from day one, like it was. It was obviousthe best place you could possibly live. You know, and you said,I do kind of people ask me where I've grown up or whatever.I say Barbay dous. You know, I'd love to move back there oneday. Is so good. I was very lucky to play quickly with thepeople I have, like I've known job since I was eleven and now ateammates the sus sex and hopefully England one day. So you know, it'sit's been cool. Like I'm still in touch with other videos to play without there, including the brother love. We had some real good times.I Remember Your Dad just to put put games together, used to get teamstogether and every time I come back, if it's for a week or twoweeks or break from school, I'll be mailing your dad saying if you gotany games of cricket going the Games of cricket for me and then always bea couple, but always be a couple of English story insides. So wenormally get pretty good teams together for that with me, Jeff Rogg, yourplay your brother like prime and play a few games that we have been yeah, I mean that would out by must have been a really unchot enjoyable timeand they do and expect that as time goes on there you will even comeback to play in the CPI. Hopefully fingers cross that the CPI does happenthis year and that we can have a successful time. But even though that, there is the brick, of course. Vid N Eighteen. How has thatreally affected you in training and all the social distancing everything and whilst thenext move in from the cricket for you it's it's well, to be honest, I've taken it sort of you know, you can look at it to ayou can say, Oh, it's obviously I'm going with not playing andI was in the best place my game...

...has ever been for this break. So was I was got to. I can't sort of keep that momentum on. And you know, if we had a full season, hope that wouldhave made a pretty good, pretty good push for the England teaswheny World Cupside. But you know we're not going to get a full season. Sono times limited. I'm to go honest, I'm taking a silver line in thatI get a bit break. I'm not a break for twenty four monthsor so, you know, and that I've been playing cricket the whole time. So I think more than anything it's just a nice little break for acouple of months and I can come back refreshed and, you know, buildon that momentum. Adad, yeah, speaking but momentum. Yes, youdo say you have a really long brill going at cricket, for in themoment of times you just came off the back of being in the final ofa big Bash Ley. I mean, I'm fortunately you didn't come home top, but and then you had a successful Pak a stain league. But yeah, we're and even when you had a re re rememberable match any big BashLeague where you you stood up and with your opening partner, are you thetwo of you knocked off the runs in no time. You had a staffcenter in there and I remember watching somebody highlights and and seeing some of thosebig, big sixies. I mean, you have a lot of power andnot going to lay but we're does, as you said, they buy bigBashley can really compute to a lot of other places. But as you gointo the final, how did that really late feel you, although you didn'tgo all the way? Am Yes, you trophy. Yeah, knows. It was great to play big actually, you know, very grateful for theopportunity and to be honest, that I absolutely loved every single bit in thebig bash. As I said, it's that it's most fun I had onthe cricket pitch. It's most enjoyable. Yeah, that game against Brisbane wasgood, it were. I think at that was actually a time where,as a side, we actually actually really came together and you know, sortof says, you know, we can...

...make a real push in the finalsat this point because we've got bait at the gather two days previous, byby they and it was quite a comprehensive biting. So to come back andanswer in the way that we did. You know, we thought as aside that that showed a lot about as in our character. You know, that we were hoping to go a bit further in the CAN. Unfortunately wedidn't. You know, we had a bit of there in a final game, but but you know, I guess that's so, what happens. That'scricket. Yeah, that's cricket. Yeah, you've played a lot in t twentyleagues, for say, but you have your four hundreds in first classickit. So what you see yourself as? Strictly a t twenty player, asin that that the region under the way, in the path that you'rereally trying to folks on, as opposed to the test match or one dayteam. Yeah, I think right now my strengths lie in my white ballcricket, but that's not to say that I'm not working harder or forms. You know, you know work. Just start my fliday cricket as I domy t twenty and fifty hours and yeah, to be quite honest, the momentI'm just focused on being a better all round player. I'm not I'mnot thinking too far ahead. I'm not thinking I want to play these leagues, do this, want to do this. You know, the folks are gettingbetter and if I do that and I'm focused and I get everything elseright, what will be will be. Yeah, and just even screen areafrom cricket a bit. You recently had a pose on your instagram where youhad you're holding a big, big fish. So I'm sure I, like manyother persons, as a Cricketer, you've played golf as well, I'msure like. Yeah, I've played ye basis. Yeah, yeah, sogolf and fishing. Fishing has been an event that's in your lay for along time, or is this something that's reason? Yeah, no, it'scart fish increasing. My Dad used to...

...take me a lot when I wasyounger, but cart fishing is recent. It's quite different to, you know, the sort of stuff I used to do with my dad, like floatfishing that sort of stuff. But yeah, that I caught two peebies this week. I got two personal bests. Nice big mirror up who was justover twenty pounds and common carp which was about twenty three, twenty four.So that was good fun. I do that with one of our mates calleddown down way, the place where the Morgan I heard of him. Butyeah, we just went up to it was a place in sorry, welove fishing, so we do that a couple times a week, or wewill be from now on. Golf. Yeah, I like gold, butI guess stuck in the same cycle and Trop I play, I'll play well. I want to get better. I got with high expectations, I don'tpractice enough or I don't have enough time to practice enough to get really goodand then I lose interest in it. So it's like a cycle like thatand they just keeps going around and round. Interesting. I just like somebody bignames in cricket that you know you probably would have played golf with.there. Know, among all the stories that you've played with, you playwith a number of stories, even in big Bash League, even Cepl whowould you really see has late being your favorite to play with among the lateicons that you would have grown up watching? HMM, to play with? HasBeen so many. I remember the two thousand and Eleven World Cup.Finally, even versus Australia I remember the end of that game. I hadI had like Luke rant and Mike yardy signing stuff for me and you know, and I played with them at Sussex and yards was a band coach, while Brighty, obviously I still open the bank with him, so that's prettycool. Over, those guys played against, it doesn't get better than they be. Played against David the big bash was really good, and even gota chance to have the chat to him...

...after the game, which is reallycool. So I'd say I'd say this. There's too many to really pick fromguys that played with, but Abe's definitely one of the best I playedagainst. Yeah, for sure, I've watched the even number of years andI mean I still count as that hole he is able to play some ofthe shots that he does. And I mean you standing up in big BashLeague being the a keeper. I mean you're seeing everything from right behind thestump. So I mean that room must have been something to really enjoy andwitness at least. But even speaking about Sussex as you did, how didyou really get into playing for Sussex? And you've played, no, you'vedone well for them in the DND t twenty league. As well for them. But how is that really going for you? Yeah, it's going good. It's been took quite growing up in Barbados, I never saw of expectedto leave Barby dous and you know, I was happy to play my cricket. You know, one point plays the west Indian which was what I waslooking at, is what I wanted to do. But you know, Igot this great opportunity in England I couldn't really turn down and I've got thechance to go to reads and sorry and play for them. I couldn't getinto sorry set up at a pretty strung year at that at that point, and you know they have guys that they've had for you had for a fewyears. I coming through the system. So I wasn't really a space forme. But then coming to the end of my school and I got achance to play for Sussex second team. Got A couple runs in the said. Yeah, is an academy contract for one year and then after that oneyear they gave me another one year academy deal and then I got a juniorpro deal the next year and signed on as an apprentice. Yeah, that'sthat must have been really, really interesting. I have a question from one ofmy current teammates. At least you would have played against him when youcame back down in a tour, but...

...you'd demise just that won't be seewith remember. Yeah, yeah, he has to keep asking about if youreally remember that game from twenty four. Tea Says I went pc m allthat really was. Yeah, I remember again. I remember I didn't thinkI was going to get back. I think it was. I think youguys must have got two hundred. I'm I'm all right, though. Ireally CAMEM. That was cover really long time ago now and I've played itlots, pretty much is since. Yeah, remember, if I remember, gottwo foot, two hundred and forty and our openness set about it prettywell and I was back in middle load of that game. Yeah, andI came in. I think I got sixty seven quite quickly. Yes,I remember the sixty seven out and I remember at one point I realized itwas next and I've never practice a shot before my life, but I justthought, you know what, I'll just trying to lapt it down there. It's yes, I remember that very, very faintly and I was I wasstanding out point at the time and I was shocked. I could not believeyou can a shot. I had to just watch it all because, Imean, I mean I know that that you have the ability, but Ito see it really a true just doing it, after just waking us allwhat they had to grown. It was. It was astonishing. But yeah, even I'm just taking it back to England side of it, you didmake when you made your first hundred and in both twenty and first class forkit. I ondered that really feel? Yeah, know it. It's nothingbetter than getting a hundred, you know, but if you can maybe something betterin life and get a hundred, I'll be shocked because there really isnothing better but the most rewarding hundreds I found of coming, you know, the longer form in the game where you've you know, you've had to haveto bat a bit longer and you know, guys Bob well that you and youknow you've had a bit of lack...

...or might have had a bit.You know, whatever it goes. Yes, the question earlier about long form mostshort forms. I love the long form and you know, for methere's nothing better than getting runs in that long form. Well, I meanthat is Philsop days. I'm just going to wrap it up here now becausethey think he might be a little bit busy and, as he is,you know, gave it all the covid stuff and what's not so I'll justwrap things up here. I mean is, are there? Is there anything thatyou want to like promote any or anything like that right now? Now, nothing, right now. Just everybody listen to this. Keeps down safe, I guess. Yeah, yes, and yes, truly do. Pleasestay, stay out there when there's this going please subscribe.
